Tubal Pregnancy Following Laparoscopic tubal Sterilization

Abstract
Thirty two cases of tubal pregnancies after laparoscopic tubal ligation among a total of 324 cases of ectopic pregnancy were studied with regarded to its pathogenesis and treatment between April 1983 to December 1989 at the Yonsei univesity
college
of
medicine Yongdong Severance Hospital.
@ES The following features were the result of the study;
1. The 32 cases of tubal pregnancies who had underwent laparoscopic tubal ligation represented 9.9% of a total of 324 ectopic pregnancies.
2. The time interval from the time of laparoscopic tubal ligation to the time of tubal pregnancy diagnosis ranged from 4 months to 13 years and 5 months, averaging 3 years and 8 months.
3. Tubal pregnancies occurred after laparoscopic tubal ligation by electric cauterization (84.4%), Falope ring method (15.6%), and in 81.3% the patient did not know the method of tubal ligation or knew the wrong method.
4. Tubal pregnancies occured at the proximal portion of the tube in 6.3%, and at the distal portion in 93.7%.
5. Pathologic examination showed that in 58.3% of cases endosalpingosis and endometriosis was present.
6. During laparotomy all cases underwent salpingectomy of the ipsilateral affected tube, but no procedures were done in 53.1% of the contralateral tube, and the remaining 46.9% were ligated again by modified Pomeroy method.
